Located in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn, this HUD Section 202/PRAC Supportive Housing for the Elderly facility has 86 studio and one-bedroom apartments, of which 9 are modified for persons with mobility impairment. The typical apartment has 540 square feet of living space including a living room, full kitchen with refrigerator and gas range, dining area and full bath. Each apartment is equipped with an emergency call bell system and smoke alarm. Laundry facilities and activity rooms are located on the first floor. Occupancy is limited to very low income elderly. The head of the household or spouse must be 62 years of age or older.
Martin Luther Court is owned by Wartburg Housing Development Fund Corporation and managed by Wartburg Lutheran Home for the Aging, an affiliate of The Lutheran Care Network.

Eligibility Criteria for Applicants to Martin Luther Court

Occupancy is limited to elderly families where the Head of Household or Spouse is 62 years of age or older.

Household income cannot exceed the Very Low Income Limit for the Fair Market Rent (FMR) area in which the property is located. For Fiscal Year 2024, the income limit for Martin Luther Court is $54,350 for one person and $62,150 for two people.

Occupancy of one-bedroom apartments is limited to a maximum of two (2) people, exclusive of a live-in aide as defined by HUD.

Occupancy of studio apartments is limited to one (1) person.

Occupancy of mobility-impaired apartments is limited to elderly families that include a disabled member with a mobility impairment requiring the special design features of these accessible units.

A maximum of one (1) dog or one (1) cat per apartment is allowed. Additional pet rules apply.

Applicants must meet additional screening criteria established by Martin Luther Court in order to be eligible for occupancy.
